With two different Mojo styles, called Thump and Cream, Camden EC1 manages to perfectly recreate the feeling of both transformers and valves used in the most classic vintage preamps. The Mojo circuit is fully adjustable, allowing you to easily find the right amount of harmonic saturation for each type of source. Use it around 3-4 to recreate the authentic saturation of a vintage preamp, or push it up to 11 for truly exaggerated effects! A big advantage (which we cannot have on vintage cars...) is that, when that characteristic sound is not needed for a given project and perhaps we want an absolutely transparent and detailed response, with EC1 it is enough to deactivate the Mojo circuit (making the potentiometer make a small click at the minimum of the stroke) and eliminate it (true-bypass) from the signal path, to reveal the purity of the Camden preamp circuit design. Record with the Mojo active to instantly have the desired harmonic color already during shooting or direct a line signal from the tracks or stems of your DAW to the Mojo circuit, to enrich them with the typical saturation of vintage analog machines in the mix phase. An advanced device for Tracking and ReampingThe high-quality headphone amplifier of the Camden EC1 and the independent mixer with 4 line channels allows direct zero-latency monitoring of the Camden preamp, connecting the headphones to the front panel. You can monitor the headphone preamp while positioning the microphone to find the sweet spot of the sound source, or create an analog headphone mix with zero latency using the preamp with an external playback from a dedicated Stereo Aux and external Mono Line Inputs. The Camden EC1 also has a D.I. Hi-Z circuit for instruments with a dedicated Link jack output, making this product perfect for reamping bass and electric guitars in the studio or on stage. Simply connect the instruments to its Hi-Z inputs and connect the 1/4” Link output of the preamp to the amplifiers/effect pedals for wet/dry recording and for reamping. Enabled for C.A.S.T. transmission. The Camden EC1 uses Cranborne Audio's C.A.S.T. system to distribute audio in the studio or on stage using Cat 5e, Cat 6 or Cat 7 cables, while maintaining the highest sound performance. By connecting the C.A.S.T. OUT output to Cranborne Audio's 500R8 or 500ADAT, you can send the Camden EC1 preamp directly to the interface input to record or process sound. At the same time, with the same cable, 500R8 and 500ADAT can transmit their monitor mix directly to the EC1's headphone mixer for listening. This makes it so that users of the 500R8/500ADAT can place the EC1 preamp with its headphone amp in the live room using a single network cable and thus freeing up the 500 slots of the 500R8/500ADAT and having more space for EQ, Compressors and processing modules before arriving at the converters.
