Radial J48 Stereo is a high-performance active direct box designed for professional tours and the recording studio. It features the same award-winning signal path that made the single-channel J48 the most suitable active direct box for touring. And with users as diverse as Paul McCartney, Tommy Emmanuel and Joe Chiccarelli, you can be sure that it will meet the most demanding requirements

The project begins with a 14-gauge steel frame and a sturdy book-like design that protects switches and connectors. The internal I-beam construction ensures that the circuit board is not twisted, reducing the possibility of solder detachment and possible failures. All connectors are made of fiberglass reinforced nylon and have large oxidation-proof nickel-silver contacts

Inside, an exclusive power supply converts the 48-volt Phantom into alternating current, increasing headroom, resulting in better signal management and reduced distortion. This results in an extremely linear frequency response from 10Hz to 40kHz and the ability to handle high-performance instruments without problems. In addition, it is possible to activate a pad for -15dB for managing extreme signals. There is also a high-pass filter that gently attenuates low frequencies below 80Hz to clean up clumpy sounds and excessive resonance. The 180º polarity reversal will help you when using the J48 Stereo with dual element pickup to align the phases of the sources or eliminate acoustic hot-spots

A unique aspect of the power supply is the way the J48 handles hums and hums caused by ground loops. The traditional solution is to raise the audio mass by disconnecting pole 1 on the XLR output, but in doing so the 48 volt phantom power from the console is turned off, forcing a battery to be inserted into the system. Unfortunately, batteries are inconsistent, and when they start discharging, they seriously affect the available voltage and the resulting headroom.
