5057 Orbit 16 X 2-channel adder - 16 x 2 adder All the sound, power and depth of a Rupert Neve console in the space of a single rack unit Thanks to 60 years of experience in console design, the 5057 Orbit is able to give mixes the sound, width and power that only a Rupert Neve Class A analog adder can provide. With the famous Rupert Neve custom transformers and the Silk Red & Blue circuits for variable harmonic saturation, Orbit takes the sterile mixes “in the box” to new heights of depth and sound clarity - without compromising the advantages of recalls and a workflow based on Daw.Born to Drive. When you bring a mix bus to saturation and the transformers coming out, the musical and non-linear harmonics that appear are the real “glue” able to unite and give life to recordings. Instead of using an external sum solution that offers little more than an ultra-clean representation of the in-the-box experience, Orbit provides the extraordinary richness, harmonic complexity and depth that only a Rupert Neve console can bring to the mix. Orbit uses a custom output transformer originally developed for the Shelford Channel, which provides both a Main Output and a -6dB output. The latter allows you to drive Orbit in order to obtain more harmonics from the transformer without clipping the next device in the chain. This transformer has become, over the years, a Rupert Neve trademark and its sound can be found on many records. Classic Sounds on DemandEvery mix requires its specific treatment. In addition to the choice of outputs, the continuous “Texture” control with the Silk Red and Silk Blue modes will give you complete control over the harmonic density and tone of your mix - or it will allow you to leave it clean and free of coloring. The Silk Red mode accentuates the transformer's saturation in the high and mid-high frequencies to amplify mid-range harmonics, often associated with vintage Rupert Neve instrumentation, while Silk Blue accentuates the saturation in the bass and mid-bass to add “sound weight” to any source. Especially for those mixes that sound 'small'. Unlike EQs, these controls saturate the output transformers and add harmonic saturations to the source depending on the amount of Texture applied. Build your dreamsWhile the Orbit, already in its own right, is an extremely effective tool, to increase the number of channels, multiple units can be added through the Buss Link. The Orbit 5057 can also be used as an initial element in an expandable summing system using the Satellite 5059 for flexible summing & routing, together with the Centerpiece 5060 for additional mixing and monitoring functions. These units create the core for a modular system of an excellent analog console able to compete with any much larger studio setup.Channel Separation and PrecisionWith precisely set channel levels and the accurate attenuation of the mix buss through high-quality stepped switches, the pure signal path of the Orbit and the combined channels, provides a very low crosstalk (almost non-existent), between +/-0.1dB. This will give your mixes a wider and more accurate stereo image, a great depth and the most direct signal path that will allow you to perceive every single detail of your mixes. DAW Based Recall without any compromisesFrequent calls can represent a challenge for modern mix engineers. The elegant simplicity and precision (fixed level accuracy) of the Orbit allows for quick and easily repeatable DAW-based recall from one mix to the next, adding the rich, unparalleled sound quality of Mr. Neve's transformer-coupled buss mix. There are other summing solutions in the world - but only the 5057 Orbit, the 5059 Satellite and the 5060 Centerpiece will give you the legendary sound of Rupert NeveCharacteristicsMix buss 16 Channels +/- 21V in Class-A for massive headroom Silk Red & Blue mode with Texture control to precisely manage the preferred amount of classic sound Dual-tap output transformers create a character of sound rich in harmonics without clipping the devices that follow in the audio chain The mono switches allow you to precisely center every mono element of the mix, such as the vocals, the snare drum and the bass Excellent linearity and precision, better than +/-0.1dB per Ultra-low Crosstalk channel for a great sound depth and for a wider and more open stereo image Expandable with other 5057 units via buss link to increase the number of channels Recallable, quick DAW-based recall with in addition the rich, unparalleled sound quality of Rupert Neve DesignSchassis with a robust and compact 1U design, with DB25 inputs and XLR outputs, combinable with other adders Neve Rupert Rupert Designs to create an absolute level modular mixing systemSpecifications Input Impedance: 16 kΩ Frequency Response: 10 Hz to 50 kHz: +/- 0.1 dB 150 kHz: -3 dB Noise (22 Hz - 22 kHz): -90 dBu typical Maximum Input Level@ 1 kHz: +26 dBu Maximum Output Level@ 1 kHz: +26 dBu THD+N% (22 Hz - 22 kHz): 0 dBu @ 1kHz: 0.003% +20 dBu @ 1kHz: 0.0006% Crosstalk:1 kHz: -103 kHz kHz: -93 dBu WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS Product Dimensions (W x D x H): 19” (48.3 cm) x 9” (22.9 cm) x 1.75” (4.4 cm) Shipping Dimensions (L x W x H): 24” (61 cm) x 13” (33 cm) x 4” (10.2 cm) Shipping Weight: 10 lbs (4.5 kg)
