Multi Pattern Valve Microphone designed by Rupert Neve Multi Pattern Valve Microphone designed by Rupert NeverNT is the third microphone developed in collaboration between sE Electronics and RND. This new microphone, equipped with uncompromising depth and clarity, guarantees an open sound typical of vintage studio microphones. The quality of the transduction is evident from the first stage, thanks to the valve inside the chassis, a hand-selected EC82 and low background noise with a custom Rupert Neve Designs output transformer. The second stage is the “floor box”, which controls the polar pattern, the filter and the gain, also equipped with an RND transformer at the output. Everything is then based on the same op-amps as the Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console, which is certainly unrivaled in terms of transparency and headroom. The capsule, the thinnest ever produced by the company and manufactured by hand in the Se laboratories after years of listening and testing, is a large diaphragm condenser built by hand. The silent components and a consistent dynamic range, capable of handling high SPL, are guaranteed by the Class-A electronics and the gain switch. Low-pass filters eliminate any background noise and can also compensate for excess low frequencies due to the proximity effect. In this way, RNT becomes perfect for applications such as close up microphonation of various instruments, including electric guitar, wind and drum cabinets. In addition, the possibility to choose between 9 different polar patterns (omnidirectional, cardioid, 8-figure and various intermediate positions) allows a precise definition of the balance between direct and ambient sound.
