Professional Microphone Preamplifier - New Black WA12 MKII version is a microphone preamplifier with completely discrete high voltage circuitry and double transformer.
Designed to provide high gain values (+ 71dB), it has high headroom, low background noise and is able to provide top-level sound performance, in multiple recording applications.
The WA12 MKII is based on a discreet op-amp, X731, which is the accurate reproduction of the classic vintage Melcor 1731, considered by some to be the leader of modern 2520-style op-amps. X731 can achieve vibrant, clean and realistic tones, but it can also be pushed to saturation in a mild and barely perceptible way or in a more violent and brutal way! The WA12 MKII can also accommodate any discrete op-amp available on the market, which complies with the standard 2520, +/- 16v pinout.

With the use of Cinemag USA transformers and the totally discrete signal path, Warm Audio has ensured that this pre was equipped with the right building blocks to compete with the best preamps on the market.
