The input stage can accommodate any type of source, line or microphone.
Thanks to the switch called TONE, the impedance is varied from 600 ohms to 150 ohms: this involves an increase of +6dB, bringing the maximum gain from +65dB to +71dB.
This, in addition to making the unit the perfect complement to ribbon microphones, allows you to decisively change the sound paste to connected microphones or instruments.
The TONE control affects all inputs (MIC, LINE and Hi-Z).
The 600 ohm impedance is recommended for condenser and dynamic microphones while setting it to 150 ohms (TONE button pressed) we will be able to drive without problems even the most difficult to amplify ribbons.
The TONE label is due to the fact that the frequency response is also modified, so it is advisable to try the Tone Beast with the button in both positions and check which solution is most popular, regardless of the source!

Switch x731/x18: two completely different discrete operational amplifiers can be selected: one based on the style of the classic OP AMP 1731, characterized by vintage sounds, the other based on the 918, more modern and transparent.
Both components are mounted on standard 6-contact pinout, which allows the user to use other OP AMPs of their choice.



CAPACITORS SWITCH

Two different capacitors can be selected, another arrow in the TONE BEAST arc!


STEEL and NICKEL, that is, a TANTALUM condenser (vintage sound) and a decidedly “clean” ELECTROLYTIC capacitor.



OUTPUT Transformer Switch

The output transformer can be totally bypassed, to ALSO have a transparent preamp without transformers (the output is attenuated by 8dB).



OUTPUT Trasformer Selector Switch

This switch allows you to choose between two different CINEMAG output transformers.
The 'Steel Core' has a decidedly Vintage flavor with a slight emphasis on averages; the '50% Nickel Core', designed by CineMag specifically for the Tone Beast, has more 'Clean' sound characteristics.
The nickel version undergoes a particular processing process that, while maintaining a very linear response, maintains a very soft sound imprint, impossible not to fall in love with its sound!!!
