WARM AUDIO WA412

WA-412 Professional 4-Channel Microphone Preamplifier integrates 4 microphone preamplifiers in a single 19” rack unit. These are pre-derivatives of the historic American analog consoles defined by everyone as “the pure sound of rock'n'roll” for the incisiveness of the low end and for the softness and openness in the high range. Featuring discrete component circuitry, WA-412 mounts operational amplifiers on standard 6-pin sockets and custom Altran USA input and output transformers. The WA-412 has all the features you would expect from a high-end preamplifier. The addition of an Output Trim for each channel allows you to decide the amount of saturation and to make the most of the machine's gain structure with creativity. A switch called Tone has also been added that inserts an input impedance transformer for each channel, thus being able to choose between a warm and punchy sound characteristic of classic American consoles and a more neutral and open sound.

Each channel uses completely discrete operatives, mounted on standard 6-pin sockets, easily interchangeable with other compatible opamps. Discrete opamps are known for having a wide dynamic range and low distortion and are the “main responsible” for the much sought after sound of vintage American consoles. The input and output transformers used in the WA-412 are made in the United States by the well-known manufacturer of the high-end transformer Altran. Warm Audio has worked closely with Altran to create unique transformers with a wide frequency response that is very extensive in the low range: the transformers use a vintage wrapping technique that produces a distinctive soft and open character.
