Active version of VR1 The new Se Voodoo Ribbons mark a new era in ribbon microphone technology - so far the only ribbon microphone in the world that could boast a frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz was the sE RNR1, the result of the collaboration with Rupert Neve, and universally recognized as the best ribbon microphone in the world. This type of performance could be achieved thanks to the use of state-of-the-art transformers and a circuit fencing designed by Rupert Neve that allows the transduction of the high frequencies normally absent in a microphone.
The Voodoo series microphones, however, acquire the full frequency response thanks to a new mechanical device designed by Siwei Zou. This extraordinary technical achievement allows the traditional ribbon capsule to develop and capture frequencies from 20Hz to 20kHz like no other ribbon microphone in the world.
The sound is revolutionary; where the RNR1 is a simply impressive microphone in its category, the Voodoo range brings the sound of traditional tape transduction to the home and project studio, but extends its performance until it can compete with condenser microphones. The result is an extremely detailed, natural and “open” rendering that is ideal for shooting acoustic instruments and even electric guitars. While the VR1 has the classic passive ribbon microphone design, the VR2 has active circuitry. The unique performance of these microphones, combined with an attractive look, will make VR1 and VR2 the classics of their time.
