MXR's M251 FOD Drive is the Overdrive effect pedal for guitar that offers the ability to mix the overdrive sounds of two highly coveted amplifier stacks directly from the
pedalboard.THE STORY
The MXR FOD Drive provides the overdrive power of two highly coveted amplifier stacks in a single housing. Professionals and tonechasers have been combining amplifiers on stage and in the studio for years, blending their sounds together and opening up new tonal palettes to explore. Thanks to MXR's award-winning team of engineers, you can recreate that experience right from your pedalboard.
The MXR team got their hands on two very customized guitar amplifiers legendary by make and model, enjoyed thunderous bliss and then separated them for careful analysis. One of the amplifiers has been modified for super-dug high-gain saturation, while the other has been modified for a punchy midrange crunch. Played in tandem, the complementary tonal profiles revealed a harmonically complex, gritty palette that seemed so incredible that the team should have made it available to musicians from all over the world.
The FOD Drive is the result of their efforts. Meticulously recreating each amplifier in the form of a pedal circuit, MXR engineers insert them into a single housing as separate channels: High Gain and Crunch Gain. Each channel has its own gain and volume controls. The Blend control then allows you to set the mix ratio of the two signals. The Tone knob sets the EQ for the overall output signal, and the Scoop switch allows you to choose between flat, scoop, or emphasized mid-range voices
.POWER SUPPLY
The MXR FOD Drive can be powered with a 9 V battery (remove the bottom plate for installation), with Jim Dunlop's ECB003 9-volt adapter, the DC Brick, the Iso-Brick and the Mini Iso-Brick (not
