The characteristics of the Orange OR30 amplifier are so many that it's hard to know where to start, but if it's the all-British construction, the pedal-operated volume control or the brightness switch (an absolute novelty for an Orange amplifier), we definitely need to talk about it, because the OR30 is also one of the most powerful amplifiers out there. That's right: don't be fooled by the 30W output: this creature achieves the same SPL values as a 100W amplifier in the rehearsal room, which means you're getting the quantity and quality of the classic Orange sound in an unsurpassed machine.

And what sound: with a valve rectifier that allows you to obtain a super-flexible attack and release feeling that feels like running your fingers on the keyboard, and a gain that ranges from clean to crunch to roaring saturation, this is an amplifier that will make musicians of all styles perform at their best. This versatility is also reflected in the amplifier controls: with a cross-line presence control designed to work at any volume and not just at the maximum, it is possible to reduce the treble in the tone bar and add presence, or vice versa, and obtain two completely different sounds.

If you add to this the three-position brightness switch, the possibilities for modifying the sound are almost endless. With the switch in the neutral center position, the amplifier is a perfect pedal platform, allowing the musculature of distortion and overdrive effects to increase the amplifier's sound. Moving the switch to the left enhances the treble, moving it to the right activates a treble extension to refine the tone, just like in the best classic rock amplifiers of the past. Then, once you've established your ideal sound, add the second volume control that can be switched with a foot switch for even greater flexibility: a perfect rhythmic tone can become your main sound with the stomp of a foot, giving you a jump in wattage for the solo, with a choke and a huge output transformer that offer greater perceived clean headroom, ensuring that your sound stays cleaner when you raise the volume.

BRIGHT SWITCH. The three-way bright switch allows you to obtain a clean pedal platform, a fine treble enhancement to interface with the tone stack, or a large treble enhancement that offers a clean cut.

VOLUME BOOST THAT CAN BE ACTIVATED WITH A PEDAL. A secondary volume setting activated by a foot switch gives this single-channel amplifier a cheeky way to easily switch from rhythm to lead.

CROSS-LINE. Many presence checks are based on negative feedback, meaning they are only noticeable at high volume. Not OR30: they are cross line, so they work at any volume.
