GENELEC UNIO PRM - Personal Reference Monitoring

Audio controller for the UNIO UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring platform is the new Genelec solution for monitoring with an advanced system that includes headphones for the first time for the Finnish home, as announced during IBC 2024. The concept of Personal Reference Monitoring (PRM) represents a bridge between monitoring in the environment and that in headphones, allowing the user to switch without problems from a system of calibrated speakers to the headphone. In this way, the sound engineer can optimize the workflow in an efficient and productive manner. The PRM is an absolute reference active monitoring solution that uses the 9320A SAM™ Reference Controller and the 8550A headphones. The combination of these two products allows the user to obtain maximum precision in audio monitoring. The active operating principle exploits the unique combination between the 9320A's headphone output and the specific serial number of the 8550A. The signal processing takes place in the 9320A by applying a unique calibration for that specific Genelec headphone. This operating principle allows a precise and extremely linear output, eliminating variations from unit to unit and ensuring high reproduction accuracy. The 9320A supports compensation of the output sensitivity of the monitoring system, allowing a smooth transition between all connected monitoring systems, in addition to the switch to Genelec SAM™ monitoring systems controlled by the 9320A.
