The M306 Poly Blue Octave is MXR's effect pedal that combines classic and modern pitch shifting styles with fuzz and modulation to create the ultimate octaver pedal for those who love to experiment with sounds.

MXR M306 POLY BLUE OCTAVE OVERVIEW

The Poly Blue Octave

provides high-performance pitch-shifting, fuzz, and modulation in a compact, rugged case with True Bypass switching. It has four separate octave sections (one octave below, two octaves below, an octave above, two octaves above), and you can set the level of each one in the mix separately. By default, each section is polyphonic, meaning that it adapts perfectly to both chords and individual notes. You can adjust the clean signal level separately, choosing the right mix between this and the processed signal. The Mono switch allows you to get monophonic sounds in an analog pitch shifter style. In this mode, the low octaves will have the warm sound typical of pedals such as the MXR Vintage Bass Octave, while the high octaves will tend towards the sounds of the Octavio Fuzz if the intensity of the

fuzz is set to a minimum.

The Poly Blue Octave features a wild fuzz inspired by the classic MXR Blue Box™ Fuzz. Applied to all five signals (the four octave sections and the clean signal), the fuzz volume can be adjusted using the Dry knob while holding down the Fuzz button. Used with low octaves, the fuzz will have a dark and massive tone, while with high octaves it will achieve sounds similar to a synth. Using both high and low octaves with fuzz you will get a huge and dense sound. If all this is not enough for you, add modulation: in polyphonic mode you will get a simulation of the famous Leslie, while in monophonic mode it provides an effect similar to the modulation of Phase 90. Like fuzz, modulation is applied to all five active signals. The Mod knob adjusts the 'rate' of the effect; you can also deactivate modulation by minimizing

this knob.

Through the EXP jack, the Poly Blue Octave allows you to control various settings by connecting an expression pedal or a tempo switch, such as switching from controlling a knob to changing settings, or to activating or deactivating Fuzz and Mono modes.

POWERING THE MXR M306 POLY BLUE OCTAVE

The MXR M306 Poly Blue Octave requires 265 mA and can be powered with the included Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter or, alternatively, with a Brick™ series power supply. It cannot be battery powered

Dry CONTROLS: adjust the clean signal level;

Sub-1: adjust the signal level one octave

below;

Sub-2: adjust the signal level two octaves below;

Oct+1:
adjust the signal level one octave above;

Oct+2:
adjust the signal level two octaves above; Mod: in polyphonic mode adjust the

speed of the Leslie simulator; in Mono mode (bright red LED) adjusts the speed of the phase shifter;

Fuzz: pressing this button illuminates it blue, providing a Blue Box style fuzz; holding it down the LED will flash and turning the Dry knob sets the volume of the fuzz; press it again to save the volume setting;

Mono: pressing this button illuminates the LED red and the pedal works in Mono mode; in this mode the two low octaves sound like a vintage Octaver and are monophonic; the two high octaves will sound like an Octavio pedal with the fuzz level at minimum.

EXP jack: by connecting an expression pedal with a TRS cable you can control all 6 knobs and the two buttons for the modes: make adjustments with the expression pedal balance downwards and upwards, thus setting the minimum and maximum levels; moving the pedal will move within the range you have set. Instead, by connecting an MXR tap switch with a mono cable, it is possible to activate and deactivate the fuzz mode or the Mono mode: press the tap switch once to activate and deactivate the fuzz, twice to activate and deactivate the Mono mode; Software version: to verify the software

version
, set all the potentiometers to the maximum, then hold down the switch for ten seconds: the Mono mode LED will flash for a number of times that corresponds to the software version. The blue Fuzz mode LED will flash for major updates, red for minor updates (for example if the version is 3.2 the blue LED will flash 3 times and the red twice)
