Analog Spectral Processor Euro Rack format Already premiered and in a limited edition in April 2019 at Moogfest in Asheville, Moog now introduces Spectravox to the market, which is being added to the Moog family of semi-modular analog synthesizers (Matriarch, Grandmother, Mother-32, Subharmonicon and DFAM) .The latest addition to the Moog semi-modular family, is an innovative tool capable of reaching new creative levels for production and total creativity that offers an analog synth capable of redefining new sounds and Sculpt the sound perfectly. Spectravox, a spectral analog processor based on a 10-band filter bank, creates vibrant drones and colorful tonal sweeps by adding depth and psychedelic spectral movement to any external sound. By connecting a microphone, Spectravox becomes a 10-band analog vocoder with an innovative integrated modulation of all its filters. Exploring and expanding the topology of the vocoder and the filter bank, Spectravox is a highly flexible instrument and signal processor, equipped with a wide range of patches for integration into any production studio. The history of the vocoder is unique and particular, just like the sound that derives from it. Its origins date back to the late '30s of the last century, when for military purposes Bell Labs experimented with a telecommunications coding and cryptography system that analyzed in detail the fundamental elements of the human voice, and then returned a new electronically 'synthesized' voice. During the Second World War, the United States armed forces used this system to encode audio messages that were then decoded upon reception. In the following decades, this technology was also experimented with for artistic musical applications, with a particular preference for those 'robotic' vocal articulations that soon found ample space in film, television and record productions. Some of the main artists who have used this powerful instrument are undoubtedly Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre, Kraftwerk, Daft Punk and many others.
