The second generation of the series of MicroKey keyboards produced by the Japanese company Korg introduces native support* for iOS devices such as iPad and iPhone, includes a new 49-key model and adds a damper pedal input in the 37, 49 and 61-key models. The new Korg MicroKey series has evolved to become more convenient and versatile, in order to represent the ideal choice for all novice musicians who delight in computer music (PC and Apple) and with music apps in the iOS environment (version 8 or later), as well as providing an excellent solution for professionals looking for compact MIDI/USB keyboards, conveniently transportable and positionable in any situation of use. The Natural Touch Mini keyboard will certainly not make us envy other models with a larger key, as it has been designed paying particular attention to touch and response, to offer excellent playability in the execution of chords, glisses and fast melodic phrases, thanks to a proportion between the black and white keys designed specifically for the purpose. For these characteristics, the keyboards of the MicroKey by Korg series are an excellent physical extension for playing any type of virtual instrument. The Korg MicroKeys are powered directly via USB and do not need drivers to operate with Windows operating systems (from version 7 onwards) and macOS (10.8 and later), which will automatically recognize them once connected

The 37, 49, and 61-key versions of the MicroKey series are equipped with a jack input for connecting an assignable pedal, therefore useful for example for sustain, and two wheels for pitch bend and modulation control. In the 25-key version, on the other hand, there is a sustain button, a joystick for pitch bend and modulation control and an integrated MIDI arpeggiator. All models in the series are equipped with buttons (+ and -) for transposing octaves.

Korg makes available to all users of MicroKey MIDI/USB keyboards an interesting collection of virtual instruments for Windows, MacOS and iOS. From the (limited) LE versions of the KORG Gadget and KORG Module apps to the KORG Legacy Collection, which includes 5 historic virtual instrument plug-ins developed by Korg itself. Various third-party software and plug-ins are available, including a “Limited” version of Reason and a $50 discount for the purchase of a version of Ableton Live.
