Professional Stereo Microphone Preamp with EQ - 1073 Style If there's one style of preamp that professional engineers would unanimously agree has defined the sound of pop/rock records for decades, it would definitely be the venerable '73-style peramp microphone. '73 style preamps have been used massively in recordings and live applications for many years and are still considered the 'Holy Grail' among preamps today. Warm Audio's “WA73 family” consists of single and dual channel '73 style preamplifiers (with & without EQ), each paying careful homage to the history of British sound. When Warm Audio decided to release the WA273-EQ, it was imperative that it meet expectations in both design and vintage performance. The sound and the sweet character that the vintage '73 style microphone preamps give is so unique and familiar, that we will have only the pure desire to spread accurate reproductions from a sound point of view. After years of research and development, careful reverse design, and countless hours of auditions, the WA273 was born. Classic '73 style preamps were often hand-wired, just like the WA273! The WA273-EQ is a 'Desert Island' boutique preamp, but it can also be classified as a draft horse both in the studio and live. Classic '73 type preamplifiers are known for being versatile instruments that work with all types of Condenser, Dynamic, and Ribbon microphones. The WA273-EQ shines equally on all types of microphones and sources, including vocals, acoustic/electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestras, keyboards, and even as a sound modeling tool for performing partial or full mixes. With 80dB of gain and a fully discrete Carnhill Transformer balanced signal path, there's no recording, mixing, or designing task that the WA273-EQ can't handle.
