Analog Tape Emulation The 542 True Tape Emulator with Texture is to be considered as a follow-up to the Portico 5042, both modules capable of providing perfect emulation of the tape sound thanks to the use of part of the same components found in analog recorders. The module contains a circuit identical to that of the hardware it emulates: the circuit sends the signal to a tiny magnetic “head” coupled to a specially equalized reproduction amplifier. The 542 True Tape Emulator also includes the Silk/Texture variable circuitry already present in the Portico II series of modules, which allows you to vary in detail the harmonic ratio and the tone of the output transformer.
