24Bit 768 kHz 2-channel AD/AD converter with ADAT, SPDIF and AES - half rack unit With the ADI-2 DAC, RME has created a high-quality digital-to-analog stereo converter that immediately received a lot of appreciation from a wide range of users. This tool is now available in a slightly renewed version. Using an AK4493 (formerly the 4490) improves the signal-to-noise ratio from 117 dB to 120 dB (123 dBA).
The distortion is reduced by about 10 dB, reaching a value of -120 dB in the fully digital domain. The IEM output, already incredibly quiet, has now been further improved. The XLR, RCA and IEM outputs have 2.5 dB more headroom, allowing the undistorted peak limit to be raised to +4 dBFS. For the rest, the basic functions of the ADI-2 DAC remain unchanged, but the device now comes with an infrared remote control, the MRC (Multi-Remote-Control), capable of controlling up to 4 different future RME devices (currently only the ADI-2 DAC is supported).
The remote control is an extended version of its predecessor, with the addition of some buttons designed for the most commonly used functions, for the loudness switch, parametric EQ and the on/off of bass and treble.
In addition, there are parameters for direct control of bass, treble and balance. With these new tools, it is possible to directly access the most commonly used features of the device. The four programmable buttons can be programmed with a personal selection of 32 commands.
With the improvements of the DAC and the new remote control, RME achieves the purpose of perfecting an already practically perfect device.
