The famous PureDrive™ microphone preamplifier, introduced in SSL's most recent recording console, ORIGIN, is the basis on which PURE DRIVE QUAD is based. This innovative preamplifier preserves the clarity and power typical of SSL, while offering the possibility to modulate your tone into a warm, harmonic-rich and controlled sound, whose character evolves with the increase in gain. The combination of ORIGIN and the PureDrive™ microphone preamplifier has become an essential choice in the most prestigious recording studios around the world. Whether it's recording the most delicate nuances of a piano concert in PURE mode or adding warmth to a drum recording set to DRIVE, the PureDrive™ microphone preamplifier is an essential companion thanks to its flexibility and exceptional sound signature. PURE DRIVE QUAD continues in this line, offering four microphone preamps with ORIGIN's renowned PURE and DRIVE modes, but goes further by introducing a new “Asymmetric” DRIVE option, advanced digital connectivity and a USB interface integrated. PURE DRIVE QUAD offers four different impedance options for microphone preamplifier inputs, allowing sound engineers to explore various tonal nuances or to match the impedance of the preamplifier to the microphone used. In addition, each microphone preamplifier is equipped with independent +48V phantom power, polarity reversal, and adjustable high-pass filter. In the PURE DRIVE QUAD signal path, electromechanical components such as potentiometers, mechanical switches or relays are not used, thus increasing the lifespan of the product and ensuring an impeccable correspondence between all channels, not just between stereo pairs. The use of digitally controlled analog circuits, managed by potentiometers and electronic switches, greatly simplifies the recall of settings and improves their accuracy. Each of the PURE DRIVE QUAD microphone preamps can be switched independently between three different DRIVE modes: Clean, Classic Drive and Asymmetric Drive. The Clean mode features the renowned SSL linear preamplifier with an extremely low level of background noise, known for its ability to faithfully capture the source sound with exceptional clarity. The Classic Drive mode is the symmetric mode that mainly generates odd harmonics, offering the well-known sound present on the original console.The Asymmetric mode Drive presents a new coloring option specially designed for the PURE DRIVE range, which accentuates even harmonics, giving greater thickness, color and softness to transients.Advanced connectivityThe advanced connectivity of PURE DRIVE QUAD opens up many recording possibilities. PURE DRIVE QUAD's versatile digital connectivity includes an integrated USB sound card that offers four audio channels to the DAW at up to 32 bit/192 kHz. In addition, there are two pairs of AES/EBU outputs and ADAT outputs, providing four 24-bit/48 kHz channels. Alternatively, two PURE DRIVE QUAD units can be connected in cascade through the convenient ADAT LINK IN connection, allowing access to up to eight channels. The AES and ADAT outputs can also be individually adapted to be powered by the integrated USB sound card and be used as DAW outputs.
