OX Amp Top Box is a responsive load box and a guitar recording system that manages to get the typical studio microphone sound out of the amps. OX allows you to play and record your amp, clean or distorted, at any volume level and with emulations of microphones, rooms and cabinets within reach of a potentiometer. With the dynamic modeling of Universal Audio's speakers, OX is the first system to accurately emulate the distortion and all the sound nuances of the cones, thus making it among the best choices that can be made in the world regarding guitar recording systems and signal attenuators for speakers.

With dozens of years of experience in developing audio hardware, the “dream team” of Universal Audio engineers has designed a load box that contains the sound, dynamics and feel of your tube amplifier - no matter how much you attenuate it. The purpose was to show, from the amplifier, “OX” as an actual speaker, with variable impedance and response so as not to lose dynamics.

That said, by connecting the speaker output of your amp to the OX Amp Top Box, and then connecting the OX Amp Top Box output to the cabinet, you can appreciate the natural sound of your amp like never before.

A complete guitar recording system

On the front panel of the OX Amp Top Box, the six-position RIG control allows you to quickly choose the desired sound from a complete setup, which contains 22 vintage and modern cabinets with iconic speakers such as Celestion, Jensen, JBL and others, close-in microphones, ambient microphones and up to 4 simultaneous effects. OX Amp Top Box is also the only guitar recording system to offer a complete selection of microphones with relative positioning in the room, offering the user the authentic experience of moving the air in the recording room, with the amplifier pushed to the extreme, during the recording session.

Dynamic

speaker modeling Universal Audio's incredible Dynamic Speaker Modeling emulates distortions, “speaker breakups” and the “cone cry”, all essential ingredients for obtaining the organic sound of a tube amplifier. Using the “Speaker Breakup” potentiometer in the OX application, you can control the harmonics and sound complexity that occurs only at certain frequencies and at certain volume levels, thus obtaining the exact same sound phenomenon as a real cabinet.

A beautiful software application

Most guitar products run into digital sound 'clumsiness', ugly and difficult to understand and accept. The OX software app, for its part, allows intuitive and intelligent control over all its settings via WiFi, allowing you to search for and recall hundreds of presets from your iPad, Mac or Windows 10 computer. You can then save six of your favorite sounds on the RIG potentiometer on the front panel for quick recall in the studio or on stage.

All the right connections

Not only does the OX Amp Top Box have a front panel with headphone output to practice silently with your amplifier set to maximum volume, but it also has a set of connections for studio recordings and live environments. The S/PDIF RCA and TOSLINK optical stereo outputs, as well as the TRS Jack stereo outputs with level controls on the front panel, give you all the connections you need for studio monitors, DAWs or live mixer inputs. In addition, you can connect any footswitch to one, two or three buttons to activate or deactivate the effects.
