11302-15-NC A Phat Cats set offers a real P-90 growl and bite in any guitar equipped with a humbucker without modification. Do you want the focused center bite and unique attack of a P-90, but do you have a tool aimed at humbuckers? A humbucker-sized Phat P90 cat set is required. The Phat Cat is a true P90 single-coil “soapbar” mounted under a humbucker cover for use in guitars equipped with humbuckers. We initially developed this pickup in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop for Hamer guitars, but eventually the demand became so great that we transferred it to regular production. The Phat Cats give you and the authentic P90 bounces and shines in the neck position you'd expect from a large vintage P90 'soapbar'. The chords have bright and ringing harmonic tones while the soli have that classic P90 cut and edge. We use two 2-bar Alnico magnets to give you more support and a compressed attachment, while the metal covers offer more shielding and noise reduction than standard soap bar covers. Other appointments include a nickel-silver bottom plate, a hooking wire braided to a conductor, and a vacuum-wax coating for squeak-free operation. The neck model is RW/RP, reverse wind polarity reversal, from the pickup to the bridge to provide quiet operation when used together.
