If you were to start with a vintage canvas-neck pickup, wrap it warmer, tone down the highs and improve the midrange response, the result would be the warm pace. The treble response is still articulated, but is attenuated by the more aggressive lower band. Great for full-sounding chords and sweet solo work. The Hot Tele Lead pickup uses flat alnico 5 magnets on the ground with rod and a special high-powered coil wind to give you enough mid-range power to cut like a humbucker. The absence of a steel bottom plate gives you a full, fat fist in both low and medium frequencies, but maintains the muscular sound of a vintage-style lead pickup. Great for Telecaster players who require a more powerful lead tone, with extra presence and guidance. These are hand built in Santa Barbara and use alnico 5 rod magnets on the ground, together with the traditional chromed Telecaster deep-drawn dusters covered with paint and lacquer.
