Blue Steel X Light 40-95 Electric Bass Strings Cryogenically frozen with an explosion of liquid nitrogen, the strings offer tremendous tone, resonance and longevity. Dean Markley produces these strings with an original approach to compound wrapping.. With the exception of strings smaller than 050, all other strings are made by building their mass with threads of smaller incremental dimensions. The wrapping directions are reversed between the layers to outline the covers and make the rope smoother. The term “compound wound” does not necessarily mean two covers. On thicker calibers such as .095, 3 covers are used and on .120 four. This solution is applied first to use a reasonably small final cover and make the string smoother. Secondly, because compounding allows the use of a smaller and more flexible central thread, which improves the playability of the string. Another important factor is the 'core to cover ratio' which varies from time to time, obtaining the right mix for the best playability and duration. For this reason, mathematical modeling is used to determine the right mix of souls to wrap. The strings are made in two versions: Stainless Steel for a brilliant and punchy sound and Nickel Plated Steel for a rich and warm sound.
