The Acoustic Guitar in Pop is considered a bit of a 'beach guitar', for the more cultured called 'Strumming', but it is rarely taken into account in terms of the player's ability and difficulty of performance, except for the great singer-songwriters from overseas who accompany themselves (see J. Taylor and others). Precisely because of the simplicity of the harmonic fabric, the rhythmic divisions and the singable melodies, Pop is often snubbed... but this means that musicians - see myself -, who instead appreciate the work of 'rhythm', can find great satisfaction and also a lot of work. In reality, the difficulty of finding a good balance lies precisely in the apparent simplicity of the characteristics mentioned above! We work on details, on quality instead of quantity, the technical difficulties are different from those encountered on the electric guitar or on the same acoustics if used in Fingerstyle... not easier or more difficult: it's a different job.
