The highest quality for cables todayWith the Warm Audio cables, the company wanted to offer the highest possible quality at a fairly low price. Gotham was known as the original supplier of some major brands (their 3-conductor cable was known simply as the 'Neumann cable') and today their current cable construction techniques represent the state of the art. Premier Vs. ProWarm produces two lines of cables (Premier and Professional) to offer the widest number of options and the highest possible quality in two different price ranges. Both lines take advantage of Gotham's state-of-the-art construction quality and offer very high quality performance with perfect signal transfer and ultimate reliability. Both lines produce fabulous results, but the Premier Line has superior advantages such as gold-plated connectors, a braided outer shell, four-conductor Starquad construction and Double-Ruessen shielding. There's simply no better sonically and more durable cable on the planet at this price! What does Starquad mean? A traditional balanced cable uses three wires to carry audio signals: one shielded for the positive, one shielded for the negative, and a simple outer enclosure that works like ground. A balanced cable effectively repels unwanted noise by removing common positive and negative signals. The Starquad construction goes further and uses four wires instead of two: two each for positive and negative and a single ground. This helps to further shield the audio from RFI (radio frequency interference) even more than a traditional 3-conductor cable. What is “Double-Ruessen” shielding? Most cable construction techniques use an outer wrap of ground wire. Some manufacturers braid this wire, while others simply wrap the wires evenly to protect the internal wires from electromagnetic interference. Double-Ruessen shielding goes far beyond more traditional techniques in two ways: First, the cable is wrapped with not one but TWO separate shields, and second, the outer shield is wrapped in a direction opposite to the inner one. This creates stronger and more complete EMI shielding and can lead to a surprising reduction in interference. Double-Reussen shielding is a little more expensive to produce, but it currently represents the pinnacle of balanced cable technology. Why use gold and silver connectors? Precious metals are not only beautiful: some also have characteristics that are beneficial for signal transfer. While the actual audio transfer capacity of the gold and silver connectors is roughly similar (decontextualized, silver is actually slightly better in this regard), Warm Audio has put gold connectors in the Premier line primarily because gold offers more corrosion resistance than other precious metals. In any case, both Premier and Pro sound great: the cables don't color the audio signal at all! With the Warm Audio line of microphones and signal processing equipment, you can hear all the vibrations, thickness and air produced by the machines without being compromised by inadequate wiring. How does the braided outer shell help? Warm Audio uses a woven nylon outer shell on the Premier line for a number of reasons: the enclosure removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rub together, so it's much easier to handle and wrap the cable. It also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps protect the cable's PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding while moving.
